**DEFINITION**
Cleaning of the infant

**OBJECTIVE**
1-To cleanse the skin
2-To improve circulation and metabolism
3-To observe the infant for abnormalities
4-To evaluate the infant condition

**EQUIPMENT**
1-Basin of warm water
2-Mild soap
3-Wash cloth
4-Two bath towels
5-Patient clothing and nappiss
6-Comb and nail scissors

**CHECK LIST OF BED BATH**
1-Prepared the equipment
2-Hand wash
3-Filled the wash basin with warm water
4-Removed the child clothes
5-Bathed the child from top to bottom
Following steps of procedure
a)The eyes:from the inner to outer aspect,with a clean cotton wool ball used for each eye
b)The face:clean gently with or without soap depending on skin condition
c)The neck clean thoroughly with particular attention given to creases and ears
d)The axillary and arms
e)The hand:caring for the nails check if nails need trimmhng
f)The chest and abdomen
g)The back:clean in circular motion
h)The legs and feet,feet may be immersed in warm water
i)The external gentalia,if the child is order,make clean by oneself
6-Observed the child skin and general body
7-Dressed the child and combed the hair
8-Recorded:time,observed,child reaction
