(BREAST CARE)

OBJECTIVES***
1-To clean the breast
2-To prevent the cracks of nipple
3-To encourage milk flow

***DEFINITION ***
It is the action to make breast free from dirt
***EQUIPMENT***
1-Warm water
2-Lubricant
3-Gauze or cotton material
****CHECKLIST OF BREAST CARE***
1-Washed hands
2-Prepared equipment
3-Explaind procedure to woman
4-Put the woman in a comfortable position
5-Made the woman expose the breast
6-Inspected and palpated the breast for similary,redness,tenderness
7-Inspected and observed the areola and nipple
8-Massaged the breast from up to down toward the areola and nipple
9-Expressed few drops of colostrums or milk from the breast
10-Hold the breast with left hand and cleaned the breast by warm water beginning with the nipple and areola and going outward in a circular motion till finishing the whole breast
11-Dried the breast well by the same manner
12-Applied lubricant substance as cream or oil on the two nipples.Applied a piece of gauze or any cotton material on the nipple and areola
13-Made the mother perform breast care for the other breast
14-Instructed mother about:-Importance of breast care,Exercises that improve and maintain milk secretion as arm exercise and combing,Clothes and wear clean supportive bra that are made of cotton and suitable size,Diet that increase milk secretion,Techniques of breast feeding
15-Washed hand and cleaned equipment
16-Charted the procedure
